Gwangandaegyo Bridge

If San Francisco has Bay tour, Busan has Gwangandaegyo Bridge. The construction of Gwangandaegyo Bridge, the Korea’s largest duplex suspension bridge, was initiated in 1994 in order to expand a road network circulating a coastal line and facilitate transport of container cargoes, and it opened as a 7.42km-long suspension bridge for passenger cars in January 2003.
Gwangandaegyo Bridge that has emerged as a Busan landmark on the strength of fantastic night lighting combined with nightscape of a beach consists of a lower part bound for Haundae and a upper part bound for Yongho-dong.
It is adored by many people in connection to tourist attractions as it offers a grand sight to citizens distressed from daily life as well as tourists visiting Busan in harmony with surrounding natural tourist resources during the day and provides nightscape of romance and rest at night.

Location

Gwangandaegyo Bridge is located in front of Gwangalli Beach and connected from Namcheon-dong Plaza No. 49 to Centum City.

Vehicle control on Gwangandaegyo Bridge

  • When wind speed is 15∼20㎧ : As for the upper part, the passage of vehicles is prohibited on two car lanes out of four car lanes. The speed of vehicles is limited to 60㎞ or lower.
  • When wind speed is 20∼25㎧ : As for the upper part (Centum City, U-dong, Haeundae-gu ~ Namcheon-dong Plaza No. 49 in Suyeong-gu), the entry of vehicles on the entire four car lanes is prohibited. As for the lower part, the speed of vehicles is limited to 40㎞ or lower.
  • When wind speed is 25㎧ or higher : The passage of vehicles is entirely prohibited in the upper and lower parts of Gwangandaegyo Bridge.
