South Gate of Suyeong Castle

The Gate of Castle built at the south gate of Gyeongsang JwaSuyeong Castle in Chosun Era with Hongye (arch typed) is located at the entrance of Suyeong Historical Park with two stone carved Bakgyun (name of dog in Chosun Era) positioned on both sides around the accumulated stones in a rainbow form. ※ Bakyun (拍犬): Refers to the dog in the Chosun Era. The reason of installation of carving of dogs, which back then defeat thieves, in front of the castle is to symbolize the obligation of Suyeong Castle to monitor any movements of Japanese pirate raiders.
