Year Description
Three Han States Belonged to Byeonhan.
Three Kingdoms Belonged to Geochilsanguk daejueng-hyeon.
Unified Silla Belonged to the hyeon(village) under the Dongpyeong-hyeon, Dongnae-gun.
Goryeo Dynasty Belonged to the hyeon(village) under the Yangju-gun.
Joseon Dynasty Belonged to Dong-myeon and Namcheon-myeon.
1914 Reorganization of the administrative districts, belonged to Seoha- myeon and Yougju-myeon, Dongnae-gun.
April 1, 1936 The first expansion of the administrative district of Busan, belonged to a Branch Office of Busan-Jin.
October 1, 1942 Suyeong, Dongnae-gun and part of Haeundae were incorporated into Busan-bu, established Suyeong Branch Office.
August 15, 1949 Bu System abolished, renamed as Busan City.
September 10, 1953 Established Daeyeon Branch Office, Busan City.
January 1, 1957 Introduced Gu System, Reorganized Daeyeon branch office (6 dongs), Busanjin-gu and Suyeong Branch Office (3 dongs), Dongnae-gu.
January 1963 Busan City was under Jichalsi(Direct Control City) of the Government (6Gu and 7 Branch Offices)
October 1, 1975 Elevated to Nam-gu (10 dongs)
May 1, 1988 The local government system was introduced (for 11 districts)
January 1, 1995 Busan was renamed as Busan Metroplitan City (15 Gu and 1 Gun)
March 1, 1995 Suyeong-gu was separated from Nam-gu
